UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL ARKANSAS TEAMS UP WITH LRCH FOR UNIQUE PROJECT TO COMMEMORATE INTEGRATION

The "Imagine If Buildings Could Talk" project will use the arts to create a multidisciplinary remembrance festival, commemorating the 60-year anniversary of the 1957 desegregation crisis and the 90-year anniversary of Little Rock Central High School. Activities will include but are not limited to: a 3-D projection mapping on the school building by Scott Meador, architectural tours of Central High neighborhood civil rights landmarks and a pilgrimage event in the Central High Garden with Tania León, the composer of the Little Rock Nine opera. The weekend-long multidisciplinary festival will tell the story of the heroic stories of Central High School.

Events will take place September 23-25, 2017 but submissions for specific events are due in May. For more information or to donate funds to the 3-D video project, contact Gayle Seymour at (501) 450-3295.

The 3-D video projection event is about celebrating the school building and its history. The video is like a mural on the front of the building, but with the ability to change it and make it come to life. Scott Meador, the lead visual artist, is interested in getting ideas and stories from alumni on how Little Rock Central High School impacted their lives and community. Feedback will inspire the imagery that goes into the video.
